Sep-18-2024
Google has launched a new feature in its Gemini platform, making it easier for users to interact with files through the mobile app. This update allows users to upload and analyze documents directly, offering a smooth experience for leveraging AI. Recently, Google introduced a Q&A function powered by Gemini for Gmail, presently, individuals utilizing the Gemini application can reap the advantages from the new Upload and Analyze Files tool. This feature is currently available only to paid subscribers.
The Upload and Analyze Files feature is being rolled out to a select group of users. For those with personal Google accounts, a Gemini Advanced subscription is required, while users with school or business accounts will need Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, or Gemini Education to access it.
This feature allows users to submit documents for AI analysis. Once uploaded, the AI deciphers the information and possesses the capability to respond to inquiries about it. For instance, users can upload lengthy research papers and request summaries of the methodology or findings.
Google has confirmed that the tool supports a variety of file formats, including PDF, TXT, DOC, DOCX, RTF, DOT, DOTX, HWP, and more. It also works with Google Docs, spreadsheets, and tabular data files. Individuals have the ability to simultaneously upload a maximum of 10 files, each file is limited to a size not in excess of 100MB.
The feature is accessible via both the web and Android apps. When working with spreadsheet files, users can even ask Gemini to generate custom charts based on the data provided.
To use the feature, simply open the Gemini app or web platform, click on the Add files option at the foot of the text box, and either upload files from your device or Google Drive. For files from Google Drive, ensure the appropriate extension is enabled for smooth uploads.
